Solari Hospice Care is proud to have a volunteer program that sets it apart from other hospice programs due to the volunteers’ high level of compassion, commitment, and creativity. Our caring volunteers provide a variety of services to Solari Hospice Care’s patients including friendly visits, companionship, short-term respite for the caregiver, massage therapy, music therapy, free notary service for patients, and expert volunteers in sign language.

Who Are Hospice Volunteers?
Our volunteers come from many walks of life and have different backgrounds and motivations for volunteering. All are dedicated to helping people and to raising the standard of hospice care. Our volunteers work with patients in their homes, in care centers, and in our new hospice homes. Since the beginning of the hospice movement, volunteers have played a vital role in providing care to hospice patients. They still do, and at Solari Hospice Care, we are building a team of outstanding volunteers.

What Are The Benefits Of Being A Hospice Care Volunteer?
All hospice volunteers receive 30 hours of hospice training. Hospice volunteers also receive ongoing training and in-service education. At Solari Hospice Care, we have volunteer recognition events that provide our volunteers the opportunity to interact with hospice staff and other volunteers as well as recognize them for the valuable services they provide to our patients and families. The greatest benefit of becoming a volunteer is knowing that you have made a difference in the lives of hospice patients and their families.
How Do Hospice Volunteers Help?
Solari Hospice Care volunteers help our patients and their loved ones in many ways.
Some of these ways are:
1. Visiting with patients and their families at their homes or in care centers
2. Phone calls to patients
3. Running errands for patients
4. Providing clerical support
5. Assisting with community education
6. Assisting with the Solari Hospice Care bereavement program.
7. Assisting with development and fund raising for Solari Hospice Foundation
8. Creating items for our special patients
It is very important to understand that no matter what gift you have, whether it is big or small, all volunteers can make a difference in the lives of our patients!
