Dr. Mike Jeong: Solari Hospice Care Medical Director
Board-certified in hospice and palliative medicine, Dr. Jeong completed his undergraduate degrees at the University of California, Irvine. He received his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Jeong pursued the scientific study of aging and the special healthcare needs of the elderly at UCLA where he completed two geriatric medicine and gerontology fellowships. While at UCLA he completed an Executive Master's degree in public health focusing on comprehensive healthcare for seniors. He then returned to his medical school to be the acting chairman of a newly-developed department of geriatric medicine. In 2001 his passions led him to Las Vegas where he established a geriatric medicine practice focusing on the continuum of care. He is the founder of Geriatric Medicine Associates of Nevada.
Dr Jeong's passion and commitment for quality and compassionate end-of-life care led him to Solari Hospice Care in 2008, where he serves as the Solari Hospice Care medical director. Dr Jeong is board-certified in hospice and palliative care as well as geriatric medicine and internal medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, American Geriatric Society, American College of Physicians, American College of Physician Executives and American Medical Directors Association. Dr. Jeong is married with three children.
Dr. Syed Rahman: Solari Hospice Care Alternate Medical Director
Dr. Rahman, board-certified in hospice and palliative medicine, has been serving Solari Hospice Care patients for over six years. Originally from India, Dr. Rahman is licensed to practice medicine in Indiana, Oklahoma and Nevada where he is currently residing. Dr. Rahman completed his residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in New York. He is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Family Practice in geriatric medicine. He is also a founding member of the North Vista Hospital Ethics Committee. He is currently in private practice at Oasis Medical Associates and is married with two children.
Houston
Dr. Mark A. Murray: Houston Solari Hospice Care Medical Director
Dr. Mark Murray is currently a hospitalist, board-certified in internal medicine. He is the founder and CEO of Total Inpatient Services, a hospitalist company created in 2007, covering multiple hospitals in the southwest and northwest areas of Houston, Texas. In addition, he has been the medical director for Austin County EMS since October 2005. From October 2002 until January 2008, he was the executive vice-president of STAT Care of Texas, PA, an emergency department management company. He completed his residency at the University of Texas-Houston Medical School, and completed his internship at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California.
Highlights of his activities include:
- Voted "Physician of the Year" for 2008 at OakBend Medical Center in Richmond, Texas.
- Elected as OakBend Medical Center's "Chief of Staff Elect" for 2010.
- Voted “Best Emergency Medicine Physician” in Fort Bend County for 2004 according to the "Reader's Choice" awards of the Fort Bend Sun Newspaper. Fort Bend County has over 600,000 residents.
- Leader of medical mission trips to impoverished third world countries, including the Dominican Republic, Peru and Guatemala.
- Experienced Medical Director having guided Bellaire Medical Center through a successful trauma re-designation after the program had largely disappeared.
- Committed to continuous quality improvement as evidenced by a CQI program implemented at STAT Care of Texas.
- Educator, having written and produced a health segment for "Live Longer and Better Now.” This television program aired on Channel 22 in Houston on Sunday afternoons. A similar program was written and produced for radio broadcast in southwest Texas while serving in the US Air Force.
- Community outreach includes serving on the board for "Fort Bend Senior Citizens" – an organization devoted to providing meals and other services to seniors that are unable to leave their homes, organizing community health fairs and speaking at frequent health education events.
Dr. Luigi Terminella: Houston Solari Hospice Care Alternate Medical Director
Board-certified in internal medicine and board-eligible in pulmonary and critical care medicine, Dr. Terminella brings more than 25 years of medical training and inpatient management experience to his new position. Currently, he also serves as co-pulmonary medical director, Cornerstone Hospital of Houston - Clear Lake, and is in private practice with Clear Lake Pulmonary-Clear Lake Specialties, Pulmonary & Critical Care, in Nassau Bay, Texas.
Prior to joining Houston Solari Hospice Care, Dr. Terminella worked for Pulmonary and Critical Care of Austin in Austin, Texas. Previously, while residing in Honolulu, Hawaii, he served as Critical Care Attending, Intensive Care Unit, Queen’s Medical Center; medical director, Adult Intensive Care Unit, Internal Medicine, Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children; president, Pualani Family Health, SRL, Corp., Internal Medicine Clinic; and medical director, Doctors Who Care, Urgent Care Clinic.
Among his many honors, Dr. Terminella was named “Hospice Hawaii Health Care Professional of the Year” in 2000. During First Quarter 2011, he was “Physician of the Quarter” at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, Houston, Texas. He was nominated for “Outstanding Physician of the Year” at Queen’s Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1994, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002. He also has amassed numerous awards for his teaching, publication and research in pulmonary medicine.
Dr. Terminella graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Catania Medical School in Catania, Italy. He completed his residency at Brown University, Miriam Hospital, Providence, R.I., and also the University of Hawaii integrated medical residency program at Queen’s Medical Center and Kuakini Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii. Later, he completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas.
Dr. Terminella is a member of the American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians, and Society of Critical Care Medicine. He is fluent in both English and Italian. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, reading, soccer, swimming, and spending time with his wife and children.
